Project Context
As part of the MIS473 Business Intelligence course, I collaborated with a classmate to analyze student spending patterns using a dataset from Kaggle. The goal was to uncover trends in student financial behavior and present our findings through interactive dashboards.

My Contributions:
Data Analysis: Conducted a thorough analysis of the dataset to uncover key trends and insights related to student spending.
Data Visualization: Utilized Power BI to create two interactive dashboards, one for the Financial Aid Office and one for the Student Affairs Department, to present our findings effectively.
Reporting: Documented the analysis process and results in a detailed report, highlighting significant patterns and potential implications for stakeholders.
Tools and Techniques:
Power BI: For creating dynamic visualizations and dashboards.
Descriptive Statistics and Regression Analysis: To summarize the data and explore relationships between variables.
Data Cleaning and Preparation: Ensured the dataset was ready for analysis by handling missing values and outliers.
Financial Aid Office Dashboard Description
The Power BI dashboard for the Financial Aid Office offers a comprehensive view of student financial status, showing total students, average income, spending, and debt. It features charts on payment methods, spending by academic year, financial aid by major, and the correlation between income and aid, helping optimize financial aid distribution and support student financial well-being.
Students Affairs Dashboard Description
The Power BI dashboard for the Student Affairs Department provides a comprehensive view of student demographics and spending habits, with filters by academic year. It features key metrics on student numbers and gender distribution, and visualizations on average income by gender, enrollment by academic year, age distribution, spending on school supplies by major, and gender-based spending patterns, enabling effective monitoring and understanding of student demographics and financial behaviors.
Project Impact:
This project provided valuable insights into student spending habits, which can aid university administrators, financial institutions, and policymakers in making informed decisions about financial aid, campus services, and policy formulation. Additionally, it helped promote financial literacy among students by highlighting common financial challenges and offering practical tips for better financial management.
