Project Context

To create an online platform that centralizes information about university clubs, events, courses, and volunteer opportunities in Saudi Arabia, thereby enhancing student engagement and communication.

Core Problem

University students in Saudi Arabia face challenges in discovering and participating in campus activities due to fragmented and inefficient communication channels. This fragmentation makes it difficult for students to stay informed and engaged with university activities.

Empathize:

In the Empathize phase, the focus was on understanding how students discover and engage with university activities. I conducted surveys and interviews with university students to gather insights on how they currently find events and clubs, the challenges they face, and their expectations from a centralized platform. Key insights revealed that students often rely on social media and word-of-mouth for event discovery, leading to missed opportunities due to fragmented information. These findings helped us better understand the core issues students face in staying connected with campus activities.

Define:

During the Define phase, we synthesized the insights gathered during the research phase and developed clear user personas representing both students and club organizers. These personas helped us define the core challenge: How might we create a centralized platform where students can easily discover and participate in university activities without facing fragmented communication? This phase allowed us to align the team on the problem and clarify the goals for the design phase.

Ideate:

The Ideate phase involved brainstorming creative solutions to address the problem statement. I explored various features such as detailed club listings, event calendars, personalized notifications, and enhanced communication tools between students and event organizers. Sketching and wireframing were essential during this phase, enabling us to visualize different concepts and prioritize the most impactful features based on user needs and technical feasibility.

Prototype:

In the Prototype phase, transformed the selected ideas into interactive digital prototypes using Figma. These prototypes included core features such as a streamlined event discovery system, a centralized dashboard for club information, and real-time notifications for event updates. The prototypes were designed to reflect the findings from previous stages, ensuring they aligned with user expectations and needs.

Conclusion

The UNI Club project will successfully addressed the challenges faced by Saudi university students in engaging with campus activities. By centralizing information and enhancing communication, the platform fosters a more connected and active student community.
